I know what most of you are wondering, how is shopping going to get you a  free flight? I will break it down  using real examples that I have used in the last six months! First example is Christmas shopping, I purchased a playground for my kids. Southwest rapid reward shopping was offering  six point for every dollar spent at Kmart. Therefore I racked up 3,600 points for spending $600. Which for me equaled out to a FREE flight to PHILLY! The fare for Philly is always cheaper in the beginning of the year,therefore I took advantage of the low fares & points I collected. Now this is only for a one-way ticket, however I only paid $50 for my flight back using american airlines.

3) Keep your eyes peeled for limited time promotions 
Another thing I cant STRESS enough is look out for PROMOTIONS! JetBlue and Southwest always have the BEST offers.Such as Jetblue has a program called "rocketmiles", recently they were offering an EXTRA 3,000 points just for booking a hotel through them,on top of the points acquired for the stay.In Philly I earned 6,500 points just for staying at the Hilton in Penn landing for ONE night. Just because I BOOKED the stay using  jet blue rocket miles.6,500 points broke down to 3,500 points for the stay with a value of $200, and 3,000 just for using their services for the first time.

4) Get the most from making big purchases
Another way to EARN points in make BIG electronic purchases,back in JANUARY I received 2 POINTS for every dollar spent at APPLE.After spending $900 on a new phone, I was rewarded 1,800 POINTS thru Southwest.Another promotion that the airlines offer from time to time, is 3,000 POINTS for using there car renting services for the first time, on top of what you acquire for the value of renting the car.Which is always a GREAT deal to take them up on, especially if you had already planned on RENTING a car on vacation.

5)Do your research
Most importantly BEFORE shopping, go on BOTH reward websites. That way you can compare which reward program is offering MORE POINTS for your purchase.You never know who is running a better PROMOTION. Perfect example of this was around Christmas time, Southwest was offering 16 POINTS for every dollar spent at Sephora. Which is AMAZING, why buy it thru JetBlue reward shopping if your not going to get as many points? Same thing can happen vice versa, where JetBlue offers MORE POINTS for a certain department store.Such as for example Best buy,in comparison to what Southwest is offering. Both of these programs are WONDERFUL & a true asset to every day SHOPPING.The best part is you can rack up points on both, and get both flights for free instead of just one.Simply by using JetBlue for one & Southwest for the other.There are so many ways to combined POINTS in order to get a FREE FLIGHT, the possibilities are truly ENDLESS. So get out there and SHOP! ​​
