Best thing about the city of brotherly love is there are endless ways to get around,See our top five suggestions for transportation in Philadelphia!
Indego Bike Rental
This is certainly one of the easiest way to get around the city and very convenient! With many different parking destinations throughout the city, for you to easily get off an explore.(Like the one pictured above in center city) One of my favorite things about this bike is that it has a basket in the front and in the back, which makes it ideal to carry anything: food, drinks, shopping bags. They are available for use 365 days a year and 24 hrs of a day, which make this one of the most reliable ways to get around town! If you plan on using this a lot during your trip you can get an Indego key card and use it at any location, or you can buy a single bike ride using your credit card. They have monthly packages starting at $15 and single bike rental for an hour starting at $4.
Philadelphia Sightseeing Tour
This is a great tour option of the city, your able to hop on and off at 27 different stops. These stops cover a 16 mile radius and leave you at or near a hundred different Philadelphia attractions. One of the highlights of the tour is all the information the tour guide provides as your riding throughout the city, its one of the many perks to choosing this option. You can buy a one day ticket, or package it for a few days which makes it a lot more economical for your pocket: One day cost of $30,two days are $32, and three days is $45.
Address: 111 S Independence Mall E, Philadelphia, PA 19106
Big Bus Tour
This is the slightly cheaper option to the tour listed above, like the other one they also take you to 27 stops.(which cover the same amount of attractions as the tour above) Your also still able to hop on and off, however I just didn't find their tour as informative as the one above. Sometimes the difference of an informative tour guide can add immense value to your tour because your also gaining more knowledge to what your seeing. However if you don't find that to be an important factor for $27 you can purchase a two day package!
Departing from: 5th & Market Street directly in front of Independence Visitor Center
Septa Public Transportation
You should never rule out public transportation in any city, especially in the city of Philadelphia,Pennsylvania they offer many different options to help you get around the city:Trolleys, subways, buses! Many people fear public transportation, but that's the last thing you should fear in any city! It is a tool utilized every single days by locals and its the best way to get a real feel of any city! It also very affordable to use public transportation bus fares starting at $2.25 and most rails and trolley start at $6.00!
Using Your Own Two Feet
This one is the most obvious but many people don't seem to think of it! Believe it or not the city of Philadelphia is an extremely walk-able city, the best part about walking is:Your not depending on anyone, your exercising, its free, and you don't have to deal with traffic! Another benefit to walking is that you often find places you would've never discovered using any other type of transportation.
When commuting into the city from the airport the Septa is your best option it will cost $6 to get into the city, which in comparison to a $30 cab ride is a steal.I would avoid cabs if possible, their high fares simply aren't worth it. Philadelphia has far too many transportation options to resort to paying cab fares. Take advantage of tour packages if you plan to spend a few days in the city. Also keep in mind if you simply just need a lift use their bike service or one of their many public transportation options. The city of Philadelphia has made it easy for travelers to navigate through the city, so make sure to use all the options you have at your disposal!
