Florida is known for all its amusements parks, however many travelers visit the lovely sunshine state and never get to know the real Florida! We have so many state parks to explore, with plenty of springs to choose from! One of my favorite springs is Ichetucknee, its the ideal place for swimming, kayaking, walking trails and so much more! Make sure on your next trip to the sunshine state not to miss this extraordinary spring!
In life we must learn to appreciate the little things , like the color of this astonishing spring. It was such a sight to take in! There is no better place to paddle along on a warm spring day. Spending a day admiring this state park, will bring you a type of tranquility you only get from mother nature! You can bring your own kayak or rent one using the onsite paddling adventure location they have at the north entrance. Just make sure to get there before 1:30pm if you plan on renting one on site, their hours are from 8:00 am to 1:30pm.
I personally enjoy a good hike, especially when they often lead to astonishing sights! It's certainly the easiest way to incorporate a work out in your trip! Ichetucknee State parks offers an abundant amount of trails you can explore(from both the south and north entrance of the park) I would recommend to start in the north end ,since that where the head spring is. You can easily spend an afternoon here just doing all of their trails.
Additional Park Tips
Please keep in mind that there are sections of the springs that are used mainly for swimming where you can bring your own tube or rent one across the street from the north entrance.(The campground rents them) I visited in early spring, so it wasn't my ideal temperature to get in the water. However many swimmers were still venturing out into the spring for a day full of fun! Whether you spend the day swimming, hiking, or paddling I can assure you that this Florida destination will not disappoint you!
