Museum of Fine Arts St. Petersburg
It’s hard to believe that I took me so long to witness this museum for myself, considering it’s less than a 30 mins drive from my home. After visiting its much larger sister location in Boston I knew I had to venture out to see this place for myself! Their unique collection of arts pieces left me mesmerized, it was the perfect way to spend a Sunday afternoon. I was hesitant to bring my children to a museum that was not dedicated to kids, but I was in for a pleasant surprised they loved every minute of it.
The Art Pieces
This museum has pieces that show civilization back 5,000 years, it’s hard to believe that one place can hold so much history in one building.  This is the only art museum on Florida west coast with such a diverse and comprehensive collection. From known artists like Monet to local artists like Mernet Larsen, there is something here for all art lovers. Even those that have not come to appreciate art, will soon discover that in every work of art there is something to get inspired from. You may not always see it at first glance, but I can assure you there will come a moment in time where it will suddenly hit you… and leave you forever inspired!
Why bring your kids to an Art Museum?
An art museum is the perfect place to inspire your kids and bring out their creativity, it may seem that is not the ideal place to bring young kids. However I was delighted that my 5 year old son was full of questions, and he wanted me to read every little detail about the art and sculptures that left him just as astonished as me. For that reason alone I encourage all of you to expand your children knowledge beyond their typical school education. You never know when a museum will awaken something within your child, and if it’s that not reason enough to subject them to as many exhibits as possible… then I don’t know what is! You may have the next Picasso on your hand or if not artistic, you may inspire them to become an archaeologist etc. the options truly are endless. The point is to expand their mind, and show them anything is possible! Kids are our future, and if we don’t inspire them as parents… then who will?
Looking for a Venue?
This museum offers fabulous options if you’re looking for a place to have a beautiful event! It has been voted #1 place for a wedding reception in Florida by marthastewartweddings.com. It truly a beautiful place to host in event, so if you’re on the hunt for a venue don’t look any further!
